Zebra Mussel Information Clearinghouse
Objectives/Abstract:
- To expand the Clearinghouses's information database on current
proposed, and completed North American zebra mussel research,
and to use that information to provide university, governmental,
and private sector researchers with a central clearinghouse for
information pertinent to the zebra mussel.
- To provide municipal, utility and industrial surface water
users with a central clearinghouse for information on the most
up-to-date monitoring and control technologies available regarding
the zebra mussel.
- To provide recreational users, elected officials, and the general
public with a central clearinghouse for obtaining research information
on the spread and control of zebra mussels.
- To expand the Clearinghouse's information databases on regional
zebra mussel monitoring programs and federal, state, and local
zebra mussel public policy initiatives.
- To expand the Clearinghouse's base of scientific information
by means of continued translation and dissemination of select
foreign language zebra mussel-related scientific papers as identified
by a panel of outside scientific advisors.
- To provide state and regional zebra mussel task forces and
other zebra mussel information centers with real time access to
the most up-to-date research and technology available for dissemination
to local audiences and for use in implementing zebra mussel monitoring
and control programs and making policy decisions.
